No argument opens an interactive picker over detected agents; connect <agent> wires one. Every automated adapter backs up the existing config file to ~/.agentmemory/backups/ before writing and re-reads the file afterward to verify the entry landed.

Flags

On Windows, automated connect supports only copilot-cli; every other agent needs manual setup there. On macOS and Linux all adapters run.
Hook installs reference absolute paths under the bundled plugin/ directory of the installed package. Re-run connect <agent> --with-hooks after upgrading agentmemory so the paths stay current.

The 20 adapters

Hook-based agents capture observations automatically. MCP-only agents get a memory-usage guideline written into their rules file so the agent calls the tools on its own; the target per agent (global GEMINI.md, project .cursor/rules/*.mdc, Kiro steering file, and so on) is documented on each integration page.

Skills

After wiring, the summary suggests installing agentmemory’s 17 skills into the same agents so they know when to call the tools:
This is complementary to connect: connect makes the tools available, the skills teach the agent when to use them.

Any other MCP client

The standalone stdio server works with anything that speaks MCP:
